I doubt I am the only one who has tried to self diagnose some ailment on the internet and ended up with an imaginary death sentence. Unfortunately, a short HTML course is all it takes for someone to put up their own health website. Don't get me wrong, I love the internet - but it does waste our search time on Facebook updates and funny cat videos!
It is hard to know what is the correct medical information when you are looking for answers. Luckily that is why libraries were invented! I am not talking books (which we are also very good at) but online electronic health resources available 24/7 such as:
- Health and Wellness Resources Centre: all content is reviewed by medical experts. It includes coverage of alternative medicine and professional level material;
- Health Reference Center Academic: access to articles on fitness, pregnancy, medicine, nutrition, diseases, occupational health and safety etc. Includes full text nursing and allied health journals;
- Health Source Consumer and Nursing/Academic editions: offers general health information and more in-depth information for practitioners.
- We have also gathered together some of the more valid and useful websites on health here on Internet Gateway.
