Christmas and New Year holiday hours 2019 / 2020

 Opening hours and services over the holidays

Tuesday 24 December All libraries open as normal and close at 6pm (or their usual closing time if it is earlier). Mobile Library is closed.

Wednesday 25 December (Christmas Day) - All libraries closed.

Thursday 26 December (Boxing Day) - All libraries closed.

Friday 27 December  All libraries will close at 6pm except:

Saturday 28 December All libraries open as normal except:

Sunday 29 December All libraries open as normal.

Monday 30 December All libraries will close at 6pm except:

Tuesday 31 December All libraries will close at 6pm, except:

Wednesday 1 January 2020 (New Year's Day) - All libraries closed.

Thursday 2 January 2020 (New Year Holiday) - All libraries closed.

Friday 3 January 2020  Normal hours resume, except Mobile Library is closed until Monday 6 January.

Service desk hours

Christchurch City Council service desks at Shirley, Upper Riccarton, Fendalton, Akaroa, Beckenham (South Library), Linwood, Hornby,  Little River, and Lyttelton Service Centres will be closed from 25 December until 2 January. Normal service will resume on Friday 3 January 2020.

The Te Hāpua: Halswell Centre service desk will be closed on Christmas Day (Wednesday 25 December).  It will open as normal for the rest of the festive season (6.30am to 7pm Monday to Thursday, 6.30am to 9pm Friday, and 10am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday), apart from on New Year's Day when it will be open from 10am to 6pm.

The Papanui Service Centre will be closed 25 and 26 December and 1 and 2 January. It will open as normal 27, 30 and 31 December.  From 28 to 29 December it will be open from 10am to 4pm.

Monday

Hornby

A JP is available in the Christchurch West Citizens Advice Bureau, in the Community Centre wing of the building housing Hornby Library, every Monday and Thursday 9:30am to 12:30pm. This is a free service. Phone 03-349-5236 to confirm. Last session for 2019: 23 December; First session for 2020: 6 January


Tuesday

Tuesdays 10am to 1pm.
A Justice of the Peace is available at the following libraries every Tuesday 10am to 1pm. This is a free service. No appointment is required.


Wednesday 

Bishopdale

Ōrauwhata: Bishopdale Library and Community Centre has a JP available every Wednesday 10am to 1pm. Last session for 2019: 18 December; First session for 2020: 8 January


Thursday

Hornby 

A JP is available in the Christchurch West Citizens Advice Bureau, in the Community Centre wing of the building housing Hornby Library, every Monday and Thursday 9:30am to 12:30pm. Little River

A JP is available at the Little River Library and Service Centre every Thursday 11am to 12.30pm. Last session for 2019: 19 December; First session for 2020: 9 January

Spreydon

A JP is available at Spreydon Library every Thursday 10.30am to 1.30pm. Last session for 2019: 19 December; First session for 2020: 9 January


Friday

A JP is available at Parklands Library every Friday 12noon to 2pm. The service continues over the holiday break.


Saturday

Fendalton

A JP is available at Fendalton Library every Saturday 10am to 12pm. Last session for 2019: 21 December; First session for 2020: 4 January

Sumner

A JP is available at Matuku Takotako: Sumner Centre every Saturday 10am to 12pm. The service continues over the holiday break.
