Linwood Library and Service Centre at Eastgate is closing from 4pm Saturday 3 April for refurbishment. It is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday 27 April at 9am.
Will the Service Centre be available anywhere temporarily?
From Tuesday 6 April, customer services will continue to be offered from a temporary location across the corridor from the Linwood Library in the Eastgate Mall, processing all Council payments and enquiries during the closure. Hours will be Monday to Friday 9am–5pm.
What does the upgrade entail?
The work includes updated furnishing, additional CCTV cameras, internal painting and layout changes.
Can I still return my books to Linwood Library?
Items cannot be returned to Linwood Library while it’s closed, but all Christchurch City Libraries items may be returned to any of our libraries around the city and Banks Peninsula.
Where can I pick up my holds?
From Tuesday 6 April, any hold items you’ve requested to be collected from Linwood Library will be made available at Shirley Library instead, unless another location is requested. Please contact the library to arrange this.
What will happen to the books while we are closed?
All items will be unavailable to the library network.
Can I still use the wi-fi?
No. Due to the nature of the work being carried out the wi-fi will not be available at Linwood Library. Free wi-fi is available at other Christchurch City Libraries.
What will happen to the books and staff while Linwood Library is closed?
All items will be unavailable to the library network. Library staff will be temporarily reassigned to other Christchurch City Libraries.
I am an Agreed Support library customer, where can I pick up my library items?
All Agreed Support customers will be notified and individual arrangements put in place.
