The youngster pictured above is a Hornby local that discovered Matatiki Hornby Centre during the July School Holidays and has since become a regular at the weekly Sewing Club. She came in never having touched a sewing machine before. Now she’s upcycling old sweatshirts into jaw-dropping landscapes made from scrap fabrics. Every week, she learns something new and creates something amazing. We’ve got sewing machines and all the basics ready for you! Just bring your ideas and some fabric and see what happens. Work on your own thing, swap tips, do your mending or just enjoy the company of other makers. When:Thursdays 4–6 pm Where:Matatiki Hornby Centre – Auahatanga Creative Space
