The State of Māori Rights brings together a set of articles written between 1994 and 2009 with a focus on the Māori view of events and issues rather than 'mainstream' media perspective.

The lead essay goes on to consider the Treaty of Waitangi in terms of the campaign by David Seymour and the response to it over recent years. Other essays in the collection look at Te Reo Māori in Aotearoa and recent commentary on relationships, movies and television shows.
