Top picks by customers and librarians

Here comes the sun by Bill McKibben, read by Patrick Lawlor [Libby / AWA]

"McKibben carefully addresses the arguments against renewable energy and makes the case with many memorable, simple facts. He is pragmatic and not afraid to address both the fossil fuel lobby but also the barriers to solar and wind farms that come from well-meaning people."
Quentin - Bluesky

The Insect Crisis: The Fall of the Tiny Empires That Run the World by Oliver Milman, read by James Lailey [BorrowBox]

"Interesting and enjoyable narration style. This book of knowledge comes with a compulsion to show so much more care and respect to the beautiful and vital world of insects, that our lives literally depend on."
PerfectlyFrank

Slags by Emma Jane Unsworth, read by Chloe Massey [Libby / AWA]

"I picked this because of the title and the cover. It's great - all the juicy content of a potboiler but written so well it's literary. We hang out with Sarah at two stages in her life - when she was 15 and crushing on music and her teacher - and now in her early 40s when she's on a trip up to the Scottish Highlands with her sister, whom she has a bit of a messy relationship. Both Sarah stories are sad and funny. Proper good."
