The International Dylan Thomas Prize is presented by Swansea University to published authors in the English language under the age of 39 (until 2014 authors considered for the award had to be under 30). The award covers poetry and drama as well as fiction, and offers ₤30,000 in prize money, making it one of the the world’s most lucrative literary awards. The prize was inaugurated in 2006 and was originally awarded bi-annually, but became an annual event in 2010.
As a result of changes in its timeline, the Prize was not awarded in 2015. The Prize was next awarded on 14 May 2016 and thereafter on that date annually.
