Ballantynes
Christchurch shops often decorate their windows and have Christmas displays. Department store Ballantynes is famous for its Christmas window. This year's window launch is on Saturday 23 November 2024 from 11am. Ballantynes supports Cholmondeley Children's Centre. The event includes a sausage sizzle and face art – with gold coin donations welcomed – all funds raised will go straight to Cholmondeley.
There will be a special guest appearance by Santa and children are welcome to enter a dress up competition and win prizes.
Some malls and shops may have a Santa in store to listen to kids’ gift requests, and having a photo taken on Santa’s knee is a New Zealand tradition.
