Matatiki Hornby Centre is a new Hornby library, customer service hub, pool, and recreation and sport centre at 25 Smarts Road.
It is set to open 3pm Friday 19 April 2024.
The library will be open on Friday 19 April from 3pm to 6pm, and the pools will be open from 3pm to 9.30pm.
Normal library opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
Hornby Library closed - Customer Service Hub still available
Hornby Library at 19 Goulding Avenue is closed. The Hornby Customer Service Hub at Goulding Avenue will remain open until 5pm Friday 19 April, before also shifting across to Matatiki. The customer services team will continue to offer their full range of services like council payments and dog registrations. Reserved items will be available to collect from Upper Riccarton Library.
Matatiki Hornby Centre Opening Day: Friday 19 April 2024
Christchurch's newest pool and library complex is opening on Friday 19 April.
Matatiki Hornby Centre will be officially opened by Mayor Phil Mauger at a formal ceremony starting at 1pm Friday 19 April. The facility will be open to the public from 3pm with the library closing at 6pm. The pools will be open until 9.30pm. Saturday 20 April will be a day of community activities and celebrations.

Celebrate the opening of Matatiki Hornby Centre at a fun-filled community day. Jump, rush, bash your way through the inflatable obstacle course in the pool, or chill out in the library.
The Hits will broadcast live onsite throughout the day doing giveaways and offering on-air opportunities to tamariki.
There's more: virtual reality sessions, bookmark making with our in-house laser cutter, scavenger hunts, board games, and arts and crafts. There will be sports and kai at Kyle Park.
The community day is free, but if you're swimming, standard pool entry fees apply.

Matatiki Hornby Centre's library opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
The Customer Service Hub will be open Monday to Friday 5.30am to 9.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 7am to 8pm
The pools will be open Monday to Friday 5.30am to 9.30pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9am to 8pm (the recreational pool will be open from 7am to 8pm)
