The American Library Association Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Book Awards were established in 1971, and are awarded to authors of exceptional merit examining the lesbian, gay and/or bisexual experience, by The Rainbow Round Table of the ALA.
In 2002, the name changed to the Stonewall Book Awards. From 2010 the awards included the Mike Morgan & Larry Romans Children's & Young Adult Literature Award.
