  • StackMap

    This is because of the way items have been catalogued. Most fiction for example, uses a common call number of FICTION. This doesn't allow us to distinguish between different shelves of fiction, so StackMap will direct you to a range of shelves. 

    StackMap helps you find items in Tūranga. When you have found the item in the catalogue, click on the link to view location availability and then on the link to Shelf map to see where in Tūranga the item is.

    The map shows the location and lists the shelf number.

    If the item is not in the library, no link to a shelf map will display.

    StackMap also provides floor plans of Tūranga.

    The shelf number is usually displayed on the ends of the shelves towards the bottom. The A and B sides of the shelves are also indicated.

    The shelf number for shelves against a wall are generally on a stand at the top of the shelf.

    A few shelves do not have A or B.

    Floor maps show a schematic diagram of each floor, as well as showing you where to find subject areas or places.

    We received feedback from Tūranga users about the difficulty of finding items after looking up the catalogue. StackMap is a way to help people find items more easily.

    Currently StackMap only works for items in Tūranga.

    StackMap floor maps have listings of both subjects and places in the library. You can find them by browsing or searching.

    Yes, it does. If the item is not on the shelf, no shelf map is available.
