You can help the Bookbots
The Bookbots are intergalactic heroes from Planet Biblio and have travelled here to help set up Tūranga - the central library in Christchurch, New Zealand, planet Earth.
But there's one problem... their ship is busted! They need your help to fix their ship so they can return home!
The Bookbots all have their own floor:
- He Hononga | Connection, Ground Level: Captain Connect
- Hapori | Community, Level 1: Nanobuds
- Tuakiri | Identity, Level 2: Mihi and Manu
- Tūhuratanga | Discovery, Level 3: Qbot
- Auahatanga | Creativity, Level 4: Rubix
Using augmented reality - find and scan the Bookbot targets located on each floor of Tūranga to interact with the Bookbots and help get the knowledge you need to fix their ship!
How to play
The Bookbot Augmented Reality game can be played only at Tūranga.
Download Bookbots from the Google Play Store or the iTunes App Store and scan the Bookbot targets that are located on each floor of Tūranga. Starting with He Hononga | Connection, Ground Level work your way up the floors and complete the various Bookbot challenges to help our heroes fix their ship and return home!
If you run into any trouble, please ask one of the helpful staff at Tūranga for help.
How did the Bookbots get their names?
The intergalactic heroes of Tūranga were given their official Earth names, thanks to the help of Christchurch primary and intermediate school children.
A special survey run by Christchurch City Council revealed the most popular names for Tūranga’s five Bookbots who hail from the planet Biblio. Schools that completed the survey also went into the draw to win prizes from Spark, Imagination Station and PB Tech.
