Ancestry is a comprehensive source of information for conducting genealogical and local history research with more than 1.5 billion names from over 4,000 collections. These collections include the following records from around the world including New Zealand:

  • Births, Deaths and Marriage Records;
  • Burials and Obituaries Listings;
  • Census and Electoral Rolls;
  • Military Records;
  • Immigration and Travel Lists.

Access is available only in libraries due to vendor licence restrictions.

Ancestry is continually updated to provide information for beginners to advanced genealogists. Adding to this information is Ancestry World Tree which contains nearly 400 million names in family trees submitted by users. The Ancestry World Tree is the largest collection of its kind on the Internet.
