Explore library programmes and sessions designed to help you become more comfortable with technology, and to make better use of your own computer tools.

Free sessions (some require bookings, and some are drop-in)

Beginning Computer Skills (six weeks) -  $15

Develop basic computer skills such as using a mouse and keyboard, saving and retrieving documents, making folders and searching the internet. You’ll also set up an online email account and learn how to send and receive emails. Phone the Learning Centre 03-941 5140 to book.

Beyond Beginner Computer Skills (six weeks) -  $15

Introduction to 3D design and printing - $25 class

In this two-hour class you will learn how to use free, basic 3D modelling software to design and 3D print, using biodegradable PLA plastic. Skills required: basic computer skills, such as how to save a file and use a mouse. Phone the Learning Centre 03-941 5140 to book.

Studio Starters: Music Production (three weeks) - $20

Interested in the production of music? This three-week course will teach you how to record, edit and create sounds using MIDI. Studio Starters: Music Production 2 - $20

Looking to expand your music production skills? This threeweek course will cover MIDI editing, recording various instruments, audio mixing and equalisation at an intermediate level. This course is designed for people who already have some experience in music software and recording. Phone the Learning Centre 03-941 5140 to book. Ages: 14 years plus

Skills required:

  • Competent computer skills
  • Completion of Studio Starters Music Production 1

OR

  • Understanding of MIDI
  • Basic microphone recording
  • Basic audio editing and mixing

GenConnect - FREE, drop in sessions

Questions about your iPad, Smart Phone or Tablet? Want to know how to use Skype, Facebook, or share your photos with family or friends? Unsure what an app is and what are the best ones to use? Come along to a free GenConnect session, where friendly high school students will be on hand to help with all of your technology questions! Not held during school holidays.

Open Creative Time - FREE, drop-in sessions

An opportunity to use the exciting range of equipment available in the Production Studio – 3D printers, vinyl and craft cutters, sewing machines and more. Staff will be on hand to support you with equipment. These are not structured sessions, but a chance for you to use the equipment available and work on your own creative projects. Bring your own materials or purchase 3D filament and vinyl from the library.

Virtual Reality Experience - FREE, drop-in sessions

Would you like to explore a whole new world in immersive 3D? Come to Tῡranga and you can choose an experience on our HTC VIVE Virtual Reality device. Let us take you to a world where you can paint your own artwork all around you, or choose from several options that will truly amaze you. Make the journey to another reality one you won’t forget! These sessions are for adults. There is also VR gaming for young adults on Level 1.
