Located on Auahatanga | Creativity, Level 4, Tūranga are two roof gardens looking out onto Gloucester Street on the north side (Roof Garden North / Mara ki te Raki) and Cathedral Square on the south side (Roof Garden South / Mara ki te Tonga).
Terraces and openings on upper floors face culturally significant points in the Canterbury landscape and beyond:
- Kā Tiritiri o te Moana – Southern Alps
- Aoraki / Mt Cook
- Horomaka / Pātaka o Rākaihautū – Banks Peninsula
- Maungatere – Mt Grey
- Hawaiki – according to oral traditions, one of the places of origin of New Zealand's earliest settlers
Important connections to the wider landscape and key points of cultural significance have been reinforced through the planting of indigenous taonga species in the Roof Gardens / Ngā Māra.
