Two letters from Louis Elerig, a commercial traveller from Christchurch, about his experiences while on business. One covers the sinking of the ship Wairarapa in 1883; and the other a fire in the Albion Hotel, Invercargill, in 1888. The Gisborne letter is to his wife and family, and the Invercargill letter is to his daughter Velia.
