For kids
Westburn Reserve and Knights Stream bike parks have a set of pathways laid out as a street network, complete with intersections and street signs where kids can practice their cycling road skills safely.
Cycle Safe is a cycle skills education programme for schools. Students learn the benefits of cycling and how to ride with confidence and be road-wise.
Gap Filler Detour Pump Track features a series of asphalt bumps and colourful lines that give kids lots of options for biking, scootering or skateboarding.
Cycling events
A variety of cycling events are held in and around Christchurch each year, including Le Race.
Aotearoa Bike Challenge is a competitive bike riding challenge held each February with achievement levels and prizes up for grabs.
Biketober is a programme of cycling events in Christchurch during October. There are various cycle skills classes, a self-guided cyclling Biketober passport and other events, activities and competitions.
