Principles

  • To streamline and reduce the number of links in the tab to make it easier to read and use without overwhelming lists
  • Keep the tab as a separate access point rather than integrate all the collections stuff (physical and digital) together like some libraries – Brendon had stats to show that this is a popular, well used tab. This does raise some questions about accessing the physical collections and making that clear – we felt that if the actions were on the eResources tab this would make it clear that we were looking at digital resources only, but it may be useful to include links to physical relevant collection access points/info on those landing pages.
  • Have only 3 columns as is easier to read and navigate
  • No more than six things in each of the lists
  • Headings:
Quick links to remain and has only the most popular, useful links (much discussion about this but in the end we agreed to retain). Goes direct to the resource
I want to… - this replaces the Getting started heading and is action focused. Each link goes to a landing page of the same name that curates all available options includes a tile with image, text, that links to a more information page (about pages). There are also quick link buttons at top of the page that link directly to the resource. Page design to prioritise access and information points at the top, with a carousel showcasing content - has multiple tabs using the subject areas to avoid the need to scroll down for additional content. (As above may be useful to include appropriate direction to physical collection info/accesspoints).
  • Essentials – retained this to be the support type links that help access, find more info etc.
  • Remove the local resources list from this tab
