Spreydon Library closed for refurbishment until 10am Monday 6 May

The Library will be closed for six weeks, reopening on Monday 6 May

Spreydon Library is closing for six weeks while Christchurch City Council refurbishes the building.

The library, located at 266 Barrington Street, will be closed from 1pm on Saturday 23 March until Sunday 5 May. The library will re-open at 10am on Monday 6 May.

During the closure, the building’s interior and exterior will be painted, windows will be replaced, new carpet will be installed, and the layout will be enhanced.

While the library is closed, reserved items will be available to collect from South Library.

Items cannot be returned to Spreydon Library during this period but can be returned to any other library across the city.

Head of Libraries and Information Carolyn Robertson says while library users may be disrupted by the closure, the building’s refurbishment is much needed.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our library users back in May to an updated and enhanced building as part of our regular renewal programme across all our facilities,” she says.
