Matatiki Hornby Centre opening Friday 19 April 3pm

Matatiki Hornby Centre is a new Hornby library, customer services, and recreation and sport centre planned for the growing south-west community. Construction of the new centre began in November 2021. It will incorporate a library, customer service area and aquatic facilities including a multi-purpose lane pool, family spa pool, hydrotherapy pool, and toddlers’ wet play area. It will also have an espresso bar, a creative activities room, and multi-purpose rooms for meeting and quiet study.

Mataiki is set to open on Friday 19 April. Matatiki Hornby Centre, in Kyle Park, will be officially opened by Mayor Phil Mauger at a formal ceremony starting at 1pm. Matatiki will be open to the public from 3pm until 6pm.

The formalities will be followed by a full day of community activities and celebrations on Saturday 20 April.
