The Esther Glen Junior Fiction Award was established in 1945 in honour of Esther Glen, a New Zealand journalist, children’s book editor and author. The Award is awarded by the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa and is given for the most distinguished contribution to New Zealand literature for junior fiction. In 2016, the awards merged with the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults and this award is now the Junior Fiction (Esther Glen Award).
