Saturday 4 May is Free Comic Book Day. It is also the day of "May the Fourth be with you" - a day that many fans call Star Wars Day (cos PUNNING). It's quite a good time on the years that these two geektastic days combine forces. (Here's the full list of free comics on offer. I have my fingers crossed to get my hands on an all new Monsters story by Emil Ferris whose My Favourite thing is Monsters is one of the coolest graphic novels I have read in eons - the Free Comic Book Day website has some good tips on preparing for the day).

May the Fourth Star Wars Day
Saturday 4 May 10 am - 5 pm
Celebrate ‘May the Fourth’ with a free day of Star Wars-themed fun, brought to you by the Air Force Museum and Christchurch cosplay group DARK SIDE Entertainers, opens a new window. Come dressed as your favourite character, or have your photo taken with a rebel trooper, stormtrooper, or even Darth Vader himself. View some amazing Star Wars models and bring your own to build or show off. There’ll even be a Star Wars-themed Museum hunt to complete on the day, so mark it in your calendar and make sure you get along to the Air Force Museum - where the (Air) Force will be with you, always!
