The Whānau Mārama: New Zealand International Film Festival screens a range of films over a two week period. The Christchurch leg of the festival is on from 6 to 23 August 2026 (with encores on from 25 to 31 August). 

The Christchurch Film Festival was founded in 1977. It includes a range of films from different genres and countries including those by New Zealand filmmakers.
